CAU5-T1+T2-7 is a range of Class I+II Iimp 7kA AC Surge Protective Devices designed to protect against indirect and low-intensity direct lightning strikes. These surge protective devices (SPDs) are equipped with high-energy Metal Oxide Varistors, ensuring a rapid response time and characteristics suitable for both Class I and II protection. The modular design, featuring plug-in inserts, allows for easy and quick replacement of function modules if the MOV reaches the end of its lifespan due to high intensity or frequent overvoltage peaks.

Type 1+2 AC surge protectors with an impulse discharge current rating of 7kA are designed to offer comprehensive surge protection in electrical installations. They combine the features of both Type 1 and Type 2 surge protectors, making them suitable for use in a variety of applications:
These surge protectors are typically installed at the service entrance of a building's electrical system, which is the point of entry for electrical supply. This installation allows them to protect against surges that might originate from external sources, such as lightning strikes.
They can also be installed on intermediate distribution boards within a building to provide a second layer of protection for circuits that are further downstream from the main distribution board.
With their capacity to handle impulse discharge currents of up to 7kA, these devices are capable of discharging the high energy associated with direct or nearby lightning strikes, thereby protecting the electrical infrastructure, and connected equipment.
In industrial environments where the risk of surges is higher due to heavy machinery or unstable power supply, these surge protectors are crucial for safeguarding sensitive electronic equipment.
In commercial settings such as offices, shopping centers, and hospitals, they ensure that business operations are not disrupted by transient overvoltage, which can cause damage to computers, servers, and communication systems.
For homes equipped with sensitive electronics or smart home technologies, these surge protectors provide peace of mind by preventing damage due to surges caused by lightning or power grid fluctuations.
In photovoltaic or wind power installations, Type 1+2 surge protectors are used to protect inverters and control systems from surges that can be induced by lightning strikes on or near the renewable energy systems.
By combining the high-energy handling capabilities of Type 1 with the fine protection of Type 2, Type 1+2 surge protectors with a 7kA impulse discharge rating offer a versatile and robust solution for comprehensive surge protection in various AC power supply systems.
